Hey everyone,
A couple of updates......
Over Labour Day weekend, I finally got off my ass and created a new website for What Are You Doing Here? A Black Woman's Life and Liberation in Heavy Metal. I will attempt to keep on posting here and there after the book comes out later this month / early November. The pictures featured are those in the book. There are a few more in which I really excited for y'all to check out in the book!
Also, I was intereviewed in September by Clutch Magazine. This was, outside of mentions on Bold as Love and Racialicous was the first "Black-centric" publication that has shown interest in WAYDH? (hint, hint) and the response was awesome!
Last night was my second appearance on Afronerd Radio to speak about issues surrounding the book. Last night went well - the first appearance kinda veered off into talking about whether the Afropunk Festival was actually "punk" or not. My time on the second appearance is quite long. It was fun! Love to talk about issues within the book.
That is it for now. If you haven't please go onto Facebook and 'Like' the WAYDH Facebook page where I or Bazillion Points will be posting regular updates on the book.

ok

A friend just forwarded a review of your book to me, and I felt compelled to look you up. I'm a black, 40-something female that also listened to a lot of metal and hard rock growing up. I experienced a lot of hate, perhaps more from black people, because of my musical taste and it had a permanent impact on my life - both good and bad. I can't wait to read your book, but just wanted to say you aren't alone!
